(2) Common Mobile Print Client (Till)

- Glen Petrie has retired from Epson
  - Glen may be able to volunteer to continue work on CMPC

- Till has built 64-bit version of CMPC on Ubuntu
  - Till hopes to send to Ubuntu Touch design team for mobile phones
    - first Ubuntu Touch mobile devices in spring 2014

- ACTION - Ira - Reach out to Tak Shiozaki (Epson) to participate in OP

(3) WS-Discovery Tool for IPP Everywhere Self-Certification (Ira)

- PWG is developing web-based IPP Everywhere Self-Certification for
  availability to manufacturers in Q1 2014

- Manufacturer will run test suites and send results to PWG via web page
  - PWG auditors will verify test results
  - Manufacturer will receive confirmation of success and PWG Logo to
    use on packages and products

- IPP Everywhere Test Tools for PWG Conformance
  - ipptool - for IPP Everywhere print protocol
    - Tool runs on Linux, Mac OSX, and Windows
  - ippfind - for IPP Everywhere Bonjour printer discovery
    - Tool runs on Linux, Mac OSX, and Windows
  - TBD - for IPP Everywhere WS-Discovery printer discovery
    - Tool should run on Linux, Mac OSX, and Windows

- IPP Everywhere WS-Discovery Test Tool
  - Daniel Dressler has volunteered to be implementor
  - Ira McDonald has volunteered to be mentor
  - Initial plan is to use gsoap toolkit
    - Tool should run on Linux, Mac OSX, and Windows
    - Design work to start in December 2013

(4) CUPS Filters (Till)

- Till added automatic print queue generation for Bonjour-detected IPP
  printers with known PDLs
  - currently PWG Raster, PDF, PostScript, PCL-XL, PCL 5c/e

- GSoC work on foomatic-rip (removing deprecated non-CUPS printing
  system support) is now integrated upstream, in cups-filters
  - foomatic-filters package is now discontinued
    - distros should ship cups-filters and drop foomatic-filters
  - available on the BZR repository
    - will be released in cups-filters 1.0.42

(5) CUPS 1.7 in Ubuntu (Till)

- CUPS 1.7.0 released on 24 October (will be in MAC OS X 10.9 release)
  - CUPS bug tracking system can currently only be updated by Mike
    - Mike is working on this issue w/ Apple security auditors

- Ubuntu 13.10 (Saucy) released on 17 October (w/ IPP Everywhere)
  - Till has applied CUPS 1.6.4 patches to CUPS 1.7.0 on Ubuntu

- Near future
  - update the web app of OpenPrinting to include the server GSoC
    projects
  - split cups and cups-filters binary packages in Ubuntu more
    fine-grained for getting a small-footprint printing environment for
    mobile devices

- Note that Ubuntu 13.10 did NOT replace the X Window System w/ Mir

    - Joe has posted results in blog and created a patch for CUPS 1.6
      (Ubuntu 12.10 live CD and CUPS patch for CUPS 1.6.1)
